Technology in the Dispensary: Ipads in the Waiting Room

Many of our clients are starting to use tablets for patient check-in, and everyone from the staff to patients just love it. Some of the many advantages are:

  3. Customize your patient's experience (and make check-in as efficient as possible) by only asking the questions you need and eliminating redundant or irrelevant questions.

Wasted waiting time can be a problem in any office. Optomize recommends its clients think of ways to offer their patients interaction instead of just passive waiting. With Ipad or tablet technology, after your patient has used the device to check in, they can access internal apps that present the lastest information on lenses, frames, and general ocular health. We've set up some of our clients to use their ipads to take pictures of their patients wearing different eyewear that they can then share via social media. We also encourage our clients to let their patients "check-in" via Foursquare, Facebook or Twitter (instant marketing for your office plus patients think its really cool). Before your patient knows it, she's being called to see the doctor and probably has a few ideas in her head about eyewear or lenses from her top notch waiting room experience.
